Come discover the underground river flowing in the depths and the cenote which is cut directly through the mangrove swamp!
Angelita cenote is one of the deepest in the Yucatan Peninsula. It is a sinkhole inside the deep jungle and is particularly known for its underground river flowing in the depths.
You will notice that sunlight penetrates downwards and widens the field of vision at the beginning of the descent. At around 30 meters, there is a thick layer of hydrogen sulfide which formed through rotten vegetation and which separate the freshwater from saltwater below.
When you are passing this cloud, you will have the impression of jumping by parachute through the clouds. Under the cloud, you will experience total darkness and see as a half-moon shaped island with trees on it. You will be ascending progressively, making circles around the gigantic cylinder. This cenote is particularly well-known because of its crazy cloud of hydrogen sulfur.
Casa cenote is cut directly through the mangrove swamp, which allows us to see this beautiful, bright and colorful habitat due to sunlight. This is one of the Aktun system output of freshwater to the Caribbean Sea. The emerald green crystal waters, the beautiful lighting effects and the mangrove forest will leave you with unique memories.
Casa cenote offers lots of wildlife. The combination of salty and freshwater has led to an amazing diversity of marine life including blue swimming crabs, green moray eels, barracudas, snapper and tarpon fish. Huge rocks overgrown with mosses and green algae decorate the bottom. You will enjoy moving through passages and cracks of limestone.
